UPDATE: Fourth person dies in horror crash on N2 near Hibberdene

An 11 year-old boy who had been a passenger in the light motor-vehicle was also injured in the accident.

A fourth person died in the crash which occurred on the N2 near Hibberdene last night.

Police spokesman Captain Petros Mpinge confirmed that three people in a light motor-vehicle died – two on the scene and one in hospital. One person from the bakkie also died on scene.

It is believed that some of the victims are local, but police have yet to establish how many and have not released any names yet.

“An 11 year-old boy who was travelling in light motor-vehicle was also injured in the accident and is in a stable condition,” said Mpinge.

The bakkie had been transporting catalogues which were strewn across the road in the collision.
