WEATHER UPDATE: Schools and roads closed as rain continues to bucket down – KZN South Coast
More than 300mm of rain has fallen since Friday. Here is the latest update on road closures and no-go areas in and around the coast.

Motorists are urged to drive carefully and be extra vigilant with the extreme rainfall currently being experienced.
Mudslides, fallen trees and flooding are taking place in and around the South Coast.
Robert Mckenzie of KwaZulu-Natal Emergency Services asked motorists to please let emergency services pass them. “It’s very frustrating for emergency vehicles to respond and they can’t pass.”

Due to the severity of the weather, schools and businesses around the province have closed for the day.
As from last night (Monday) Bank Street in Margate and the CBD is a no-go zone.
Please avoid using this road today (April 12) until further notice, and use alternative routes if you stay in that area.

Take note of the landslide between Port Shepstone and Shelly Beach. Road users will not be able to use the toll road to get to Margate from Port Shepstone.

If you can avoid travelling on the road please do so, but if you need to travel today please be cautious.
