Now there are three walking SA’s coastline

This was as he embarked on the challenge to walk the South African coastline from the Mozambique border to the Namibian border.

Leanne and Ian Louw have been joined by Damian Honeysett on their epic coastal walk from Mozambique to Namibia.

The trio has reached the lower South Coast and should walk past Port Shepstone and southern towns soon enough, weather permitting of course.

Leanne and Ian started out as a pair but have been joined by one of the men who inspired the walk, Damian Honeysett, who simply could not resist joining them.

Last year, the husband and wife team was inspired by the 21-year old adventurer after he put out a plea on Facebook looking for any form of assistance to make his journey ‘just that much easier’.

This was as he embarked on the challenge to walk the South African coastline from the Mozambique border to the Namibian border.

He aimed to do this in the shortest possible time, covering a distance of just under 3000 kilometres.

That’s when the Louws jumped at the opportunity to offer Honeysett their soothing rub, to help with those sore feet, aching muscles, insect bites and a host of other ‘nasties’.

Damien Laid, a long time friend of Leanne and Ian’s, then stepped in too; he wanted to accompany Damian on his journey and did so.

Leanne and Ian decided to walk with the two along the Transkei beaches from August 23 to 26 last year, when the two Ds reached the Wild Coast Sun on the Eastern Cape border.

They joined forces and walked to Port St. John’s, a short four-day stint and a total of 153 000 steps, roughly.

They were so inspired by their four-day stint that they ultimately embarked on this challenge themselves.

Leanne and Ian are already in their 50s and Leanne will be the oldest woman attempting this walk along the SA coastline

They set off from the Mozambique border on February 22, and while completing their epic walk, aim to bring hope and awareness to the country’s beautiful coastline, as well as walking in solidarity against various seismic activities taking place.

The three will aim to assist, where possible, in the hospitality and tourism industry which has been heavily affected by the Covid-19 pandemic.

You can join in on their experience and follow them on their various social media handles.
