No bail for ex-boyfriend

Case postponed to April 28.

The man allegedly held responsible for the gruesome murder of two children in Qinabout, Gamalakhe on March 31 appeared at the Ramsgate Magistrate’s Court on April 8.

Two children aged (14) and (6) were at their home in Qinabout when the murders were committed. It is alleged that the mother (34) of the children had served her ex-boyfriend (36) with a protection order and was at the police station when he committed the crime.

It is alleged that the ex-boyfriend phoned the mother and had told her he had killed her two children and was going to burn the house.

When she arrived at the house she noticed her home on fire.

Police spokesperson, Lieutenant-Colonel Nqobile Gwala said at around 7pm, the two victims were killed by a known suspect and the house set alight. Both children were burnt beyond recognition. The suspect fled the scene and was arrested by Gamalakhe police. The man is expected to reappear in court on April 28. He remains in police custody.
