Electrician dies in work related accident
A devout Christian, he was heavily involved as a volunteer at Norwegian Settlers Church.
Juan Roetz (29), an electrician by trade and the son of Boetie and Heather of Umtentweni, died in a work-related accident in Anerley last week Thursday.
Tributes have flowed in on social media as his death leaves a huge void in the lives of many. His sincere and caring ways will be sorely missed.
A devout Christian, he was heavily involved as a volunteer at Norwegian Settlers Church.
He was a ‘go to’ type of person, always willing to roll up his sleeves and get stuck in, so much so that you could have been forgiven for thinking he was on staff in some capacity.
Juan thrived on helping where he could and he formed a vital cog in the church’s sound and lighting team, where he drove the lighting desk.
His sense of humour could catch people off guard and he enjoyed playing the odd prank on the praise and worship team, greeting them with some very bright lights, usually followed by his distinctive raucous laughter echoing around the church.
It took one a little while to get to know Juan, but once you did, you were a friend for life as he was a man fiercely loyal to his friends and family.
A former learner of Suid-Natal High, he also enjoyed going out on the boat fishing with ith his father and friends.
