Adeel Moosa inquest back in court
The case will be heard at the Durban Magistrate court on October 17.
An inquest into the death of former national rally car driver Adeel Moosa (22) of Port Shepstone, who was found dead at his Morningside home in Durban in August 2013, is back in court.
In 2018, Moosa’s family suspected that all was not as it seemed, and pursued the matter further.
His family launched an inquest, which was first heard at the Durban Magistrate’s Court on December 6, 2018.
Magistrate Melane de Jager called various expert witnesses to testify.
Later, the matter was held in abeyance due to the Covid-19 pandemic and lockdown restrictions.
An inquest proceeding was then set down for April 4 and 5. However, it has been adjourned to October 17 and November 7 for continuation and the possibility of obtaining activity reports of records of the cellphones used in August 2013, as well as for argument on the merits of the inquest proceedings, and for judgment on November 7.
It was previously reported that court papers and WhatsApp messages revealed that hours before Moosa was found dead, he had seen a Pakistani man leaving his home.
Moosa’s family members had also previously stated that they will leave no stone unturned in efforts to seek justice, despite the docket being stolen twice, once from the police station and once from the attorney’s office where it was the only item taken.
