Copper thieves caught hiding in ceiling

Margate police responded after a property owner realised his home had been burgled and immediately contacted police.

Police will investigate whether two copper thieves nabbed in the Margate Extension 3 last Sunday, were involved in other housebreakings in the area.

The thieves who were arrested for housebreaking and theft are expected to appear in the Ramsgate Magistrate’s Court this week.

Margate police responded after a property owner realised his home had been burgled and immediately contacted police.

Police spokesperson Sergeant Sibu Ncane said it was further discovered that copper cables and other property were already packed by the thieves.

A search of the property was carried out and two men, aged 37 and 45 were found hiding in the ceiling.

They were arrested and charged.
