A Hibberdene homeowner shot and injured a man who, armed with a knife, broke into his house last Sunday evening.
It is believed the suspect fought with the man and his wife and, at some point, the husband managed to retrieve his firearm and shoot the suspect.
Police spokesman, Captain Petros Mpinge said police have opened an attempted murder case, as well as an attempted house robbery case.
The intruder was injured and taken to hospital for treatment. The case will be sent to the public prosecutor for a decision.
