Unique outfits unveiled at trashion show

Some outfits were made out of black bin bags, plastic, paper cups, plastic spoons, fabric, wool and bottle tops.

Southcoast Mall hosted a trashion show for schools last Saturday.

It took Unathi Dlamini of South Coast Academy two weeks to make her dress out of newspaper which she showed off at the trashion show at Southcoast Mall last Saturday.

The show took place at the food court which was packed with parents, educators, family and friends.
From primary to high schools, participants turned up in their unique outfits, most made out of newspaper.

However, some outfits were made out of black bin bags, plastic, paper cups, plastic spoons, fabric, wool, bottle tops and more.

Asavela Maphinda and Amile Makhanya of Nobamba High School made their dresses out of plastic and paper.

Overall there were 29 entries and the top 10 contestants were chosen from the following schools: Izotsha Primary, Creston College, Marburg Secondary, Merlewood Primary, Nobamba High, Port Shepstone Secondary and South Coast Academy.
The learners also received goodie bags.

Izotsha Primary’s Amelia Hamann made her dress in a week with paper, origami flowers and toilet rolls.
