New Year twins delivered at health centre
The 34-year-old mother thanked the health centre for the care she received.
Mvutshini’s Nelisiwe Hlophe was delighted to give birth to twins at the Gamalakhe Community Health Centre on New Year’s Day.
The 34-year-old has hailed the health centre for the care she received.
She said it was not her first time giving birth, saying that she already had two children.
“I am grateful to the nurses who assisted me during delivery, the security guards who helped me on my arrival, and the doctor who ensured that my twins and I were fine. I want to applaud them all for their dedication,” said Hlophe.
Gamalakhe Community Health Centre CEO Dr Frank Shongwe congratulated Hlophe and wished the twins a long life.
Shongwe said for the twins to remain healthy, the mother must ensure they are vaccinated and protected from diseases.
She must also ensure they are fed breast milk because it’s the healthiest.
“The MEC of Health in KwaZulu Natal, Nomagugu Simelane, said they are happy with New Year births; however, they are worried about young girls who are having babies. The first baby was born at Hlabisa Hospital at 00:05. The Ministry of Health revealed that by 15:00 in the New Year, 117 children had been born,” said Shongwe.
