OPINION: Lower South Coast SPCA’s fundraising appreciation overshadowed by criticism
Why are the elephants in the room raised at the AGM not being addressed in accordance with the same tone in his response?
I refer to the response by Jaimin Patel regarding the Pints for Paw initiative.
I am completely and utterly disgusted in this response. Instead of thanking the organisers, public and commitment from the area in support of the Lower South Coast SPCA, a mere word of appreciation was mentioned for the coverage and SPCA members only.
I find that the response, if anything, shows a massive lack of appreciation and care towards what the community put together.
The society needs all the support it can get, with many not getting enough and forcing closure. Who is affected? The animals, the ones which cannot speak for themselves. As per the society’s recent AGM, there are many members who have given donations, signed membership forms, paid their fees and want to get on board to assist, myself included, with no response or joy from the SPCA.
I find myself at a crossroads with the ending of Patel’s response, stating ‘assist in ensuring accurate public information and in maintaining the trust of our donors and supporters’.
If this is the focus, then why does the committee/society delay on new applications and has yet to accept any new members?
