Let’s talk about hatchbacks, I have had a few, which I enjoyed driving and gave me many joyous miles. My current hatchback I purchased 11 years ago, the ‘Trusted D’s car’ as my boys call it, I totally enjoy.
My recent test vehicle was a GAC Emzoom, a hatchback, which had me reminiscing about my younger days. You know that proper sports hatchback that will not only get the ladies looking, but almost every other driver or pedestrian, yeah true it happened, all eyes on this Emzoom hatchback.
Now, GAC is a new brand in South Africa, and rarely does one see them around. I tested the GS3 Emzoom 1.5L T R-Style which certainly had many South Coasters asking questions.
For many, it was the sporty looks and its salt lake blue colour which brought out the beast in this well crafted hatchback, fitted with the right features and most importantly, well priced.
Wherever I parked the Emzoom, its brute look was complemented by the dual centre piece exhaust pipes which was definitely a highlight. The GAC GS3 Emzoom R-Style comes with active exhaust valves which sounds brutal.

The 18-inch wheels, LED lighting cluster, daytime running lights, just added that extra touches. The interior also brought out that sports feel.
It is powered by a 1.5 litre turbo engine and pushes an impressive 130Kw and 270Nm of torque. It comes in three driving modes Eco, Comfort and Sport.
I appreciated the exhilarating cold start sound in sports mode. This characteristic feature, often amplified in performance vehicles, is designed to enhance the driving experience for enthusiasts like myself.
The R-style comes with electric hidden door handles, LED headlights +DRL power adjustable side mirrors, automatic headlights, rain sensing front windscreen wipers, sunroof with electric sunshades, sport pack with R-
Style badge, tyre pressure monitoring system, ISOFIX child safety seat anchors, engine immobiliser (w/ anti-theft alarm), wireless Carplay, and much more.
Remember with GAC there’s peace of mind with its lifetime engine warranty, a unique benefit.
Closing thoughts, I enjoyed my time spent in this vehicle.
