Car of the Year semi-finals for BYD

BYD has made major waves, expanding from a newcomer to a formidable player in the motoring industry.

BYD South Coast in Margate is thrilled to share some exciting news that the Dolphin Surf and Shark 6 models have both made it to the semi-finals of the 2026 South African Car of the Year competition.

The 30 semi-finalists were announced in late 2025, and features a mix of established brands and growing Chinese manufacturers.

The BYD Dolphin Surf boasts cutting edge technology.

BYD Shark 6: It features a 1.5l turbo petrol engine with two electric motors, producing 321kW of power and 650Nm of torque, resulting in a 5.7 second 0-100 km/h acceleration. Key features include a 2 500kg braked towing capacity, a 5-star ANCAP safety rating and terrain modes for off-road capabilities.
It has firmly anchored itself on the South Coast, and making waves. With its bold design, cutting-edge technology and unstoppable performance, this bakkie has captured attention and admiration everywhere it goes.
