Turn heads in a Geely E5
It is without a doubt an everyday vehicle for the family.
I drove the Geely E5, a fully electric compact SUV, boasting modern design and technology.
Now, this SUV features a level two advanced driver assistance system, not a fully autonomous self-driving mode, but it handles routine tasks like adaptive speed and lane control; however, you must keep your hands on the wheel and stay alert at all times.
It’s something I had not experienced before, and it worked perfectly well.
The car uses cameras and radar to read road markings and traffic. It can steer, speed up, and slow down on clear roads, and it performed perfectly. Remember, this is only a helper tool, and the law requires a human driver to be in control at all times.
Overall, driving the Geely E5 was quiet, comfortable, and smooth. And yes, it turned heads on the road. It is without a doubt an everyday vehicle, and I’m sure the whole family would love every journey.
The single electric motor pushes 160Kw of power and 320Nm of torque. Anything above 300Nm of torque is good for me. This vehicle is responsive when you push the pedal, and I noticed my passengers and I fit those leatherette seats well.
The fully electric Geely E5 offers a claimed driving range of up to 430km for the Aspire and 450km for the Apex Plus, while the EM-i Super Hybrid variant provides a combined range of up to 943km.
To charge, use an AC home wallbox for daily overnight charging or a high-speed DC public charger for quick roadside top-ups. Charging from 20% to about 90% at a 100kW DC public charger took about 45 minutes.
The Geely E5 features high-grade, animal-free perforated leatherette seats equipped with power adjustability, ventilation, and massage functions depending on the trim level.
There are enough luxury features, but I did enjoy the front-seat ventilation system, heated seats, and massage functions, which made every drive comfortable.
The 15.4-inch central touch display screen dominates the dashboard, paired with a 10.2-inch digital instrument cluster. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto come standard, as does a top-notch 360° camera system.
All in all, the Geely E5 is a remarkably well-placed vehicle, and I enjoyed every moment in this spacious and plush crossover.
