Chery South Africa has introduced the Tiggo 7 Distinction Dark Edition, a new derivative with more distinctive styling, additional safety features and an upgraded transmission.

It is powered by Chery’s turbocharged 1.5-litre petrol engine, producing 108 kW of power and 210 Nm of torque. The engine is paired with a six-speed dual-clutch transmission, replacing the continuously variable transmission previously used in the Distinction.

Power is delivered to the front wheels, with Eco, Normal and Sport driving modes to adapt to different conditions.

The combined fuel consumption is rated at 6.9l/100km on the Worldwide Harmonised Light Vehicles Test Procedure. Based on its 51-litre fuel tank, the Tiggo 7 Distinction Dark Edition has a range of about 739km.

Sales executive Jaco Oliver said the Dark Edition is one of the best-value SUVs in its price range. “What I like about it is that you get that premium SUV look without having to pay a premium price. The blacked-out grille, black 18-inch alloys and privacy glass give it a much more aggressive and sporty appearance. Inside, I think Chery has done a great job. The cabin feels modern, comfortable and well-equipped, and the twin 12.3-inch screens give it that upmarket feel. But what stands out for me is the overall package. You’re getting a five-seater SUV that’s practical for the family, comfortable for everyday driving, and packed with features – including seven airbags, a reverse camera, dual-zone climate control, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, keyless entry and an electric tailgate,” said Jaco.

The Tiggo 7 Distinction Dark Edition is covered by a five-year/150 000km vehicle warranty and a five-year/60 000km service plan.
