Police seize homemade firearm

Thirteen rounds of ammunition was also recovered.

A tip-off regarding a illegal firearm led to police arresting two men, aged 19 and 32 at their residence at Mfazazane in Hibberdene.

Police spokesperson Captain Petros Mpinge said police recovered a homemade firearm, as well as 16 straws of mandrax powder, 92 capsules of heroin and 13 rounds of ammunition.

The drugs seized.

The two men appeared in the Umzumbe Magistrate’s Court on charges of possession of unlicensed firearm, possession of unlicensed ammunition and possession of drugs last Friday.

The matter was postponed to September 5.
