Doctor in court for rape

The girl went to obtain medical treatment.

A doctor based at a Port Shepstone medical facility has been arrested on a charge of rape.

Police spokesperson, Captain Petros Mpinge confirmed that Port Shepstone Saps has opened a case of rape after a 20-year-old woman was allegedly raped by a doctor at a medical facility last Sunday.

“It is believed that the victim was raped when she went to obtain treatment. A 42-year-old man was arrested and charged. He appeared in the Port Shepstone Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday this week and the case was postponed to a future date for a formal bail application.”

The doctor remains in police custody.
