Teen to serve 10 years for murder

The murder occurred in KwaCele earlier in the year.

Asanda Hlongwa (18) from KwaCele was sentenced to 10 years’ imprisonment and declared unfit to possess a firearm after being found guilty of murder.

The convicted teenager, who also goes by the name Loto, fatally stabbed a 41-year-old KwaCele resident in the chest and thigh at the beginning of the year.

Paramedics declared the victim dead as he lay on a gravel road.

A witness to the stabbing identified Hlongwa as the suspect, resulting in the arrest.

The case was investigated by Detective Warrant Officer Njabulo Latha of Scottburgh Detective Service and he was sentenced at the Scottburgh Regional Court recently.
