Rapists sentenced in Scottburgh court
All of the men were also declared unfit to possess a firearm.
A number of persons were sentenced in the Scottburgh Regional Court this month, some of whom were found guilty of sexual offences.
Zamokwakhe Khoza (38) was found guilty of rape. This incident occurred on September 22, 2021, after he accosted a woman (30) who was walking home. Khoza was sentenced to 15 years’ imprisonment and declared unfit to possess a firearm.
Khulani Ellias Mkhize (34) was sentenced to life imprisonment after being found guilty of raping a 64-year-old woman. He was also declared unfit to possess a firearm.
On January 19, 2023, the victim was asleep at her KwaCele residence when Mkhize entered through her bedroom window, and raped her.
Police stated that she screamed for help, and the man fled. He was later identified and made several court appearances before finally being sentenced.
Both cases were investigated by Detective Sergeant Vuyiswa Dlamini of Port Shepstone FCS.
Detective Sergeant Siboniso Gcaba, also from Port Shepstone FCS, secured a conviction in this court as well.
Anele Richard Khuzwayo (34) received a 10-year sentence after being found guilty of repeatedly raping a woman (34).
Khuzwayo committed the heinous crime on May 23, 2021, after he forcefully dragged the victim into a bush near a primary school in Mehlomnyama. He was also declared unfit to possess a firearm.
