New president for business chamber

Dick Basday was elected as the new president.

The South Coast Chamber of Commerce and Industry elected Dick Basday as its new president, at an AGM held at the SmartXchange Incubator last week.

Basday has replaced Lulu Bodla.

Bodla gave a report back on the projects that the former executive had done.

The guest speaker was former municipal manager of Ugu District Municipality, DD Naidoo.

He explained the difference in governance at national, provincial and local levels, and the differences and functions of local, district and metro municipalities.

Naidoo also spoke about the supply chain department, how it worked, and he also offered a workshop to members.

“I can do a presentation for free on supply chain management processes in local government. It will help to understand that when you tender, people do not tell you otherwise because you’ll have the knowledge on how things should happen.”
