The community of Gamalakhe and surrounds is invited to a meeting at Gamalakhe TVET College, to discuss the formation of a musical band, this Sunday (14th) at 15:00.
Organiser, Thobani Lushaba said the idea is to start a community-free-to-join musical band for the youth, where they will be trained to play various instruments; drums, piano, violin, saxophone and the trombone.
“The idea came about after we saw that the college has these instruments which are not being used, and they can be of good use to development of the youth in the area, taking them off the streets. It will help in the fight against social ills.
“We are looking at training children and youth from the age of eight and older. It does not matter whether they have played an instrument before or not. Our classes will be for beginners, “said Lushaba.
He said that parents and youth who are interested should attend the meeting
“We will discuss the logistics of practise times and days which will be suitable for the group.”
For more information Lushaba can be contacted on 073 2582229.
