Hats and heels at Women’s Day
Talks from guest speakers included work-life balance, financial advice, mental health and more.
Hats and heels were the order of the day at Sun International’s Wild Coast Sun‘s Woman to Women Conference on Tuesday this week, aimed at celebrating the fairer sex.

It was held at the Amabida Conference Centre and women from all walks of life donned their heels and walked the red carpet as they anticipated talks from the host, Thobile Mseleku and guest speakers.

Sheena O’ Brein, risk manager at Sun International spoke on how she was able to balance her work life, studying and family time during the hard times of Covid. She said it was important to be selfish in order to find a balance in life.

Giving some tips on women and finance was Thato Motsikoe, a financial education facilitator who also encouraged the women to cut down on unnecessary spending and start saving and investing in their children and family’s futures, as they are the pillars of their homes.
“As women we should stop being entirely dependent on our partners or husbands, we should start doing things for ourselves, be financially independent,” Motsikoe said.

Yanga Khuboni, a clinical social worker touched on mental health issues which may affect women, especially those who have been through traumatic marriages, rape and toxic relationships.
Khuboni said; “The back of the brain is a storage box. It is like a wardrobe which stores all our experiences. If you want to live a healthy and successful life, you should empty your storage box from time to time, cleaning out all the negativity.”

The last speaker for the day was Shanna Peterson, a wellness practitioner who spoke about mindful movement, health and wellness, teaching the women posture and how to carry themselves and building their self confidence.
