Ugu hosts women’s empowerment workshop
The event aimed to empower unemployed young women who are passionate about being leaders in their communities.
Ugu District Municipality in collaboration with the Office of the KZN Premier, hosted a women’s empowerment workshop in St Michaels last week.
Some 100 young women were selected to be part of the workshop through various structures in the district.
However 15 of them were given an opportunity to join the event by writing a motivational letter, as to the reason they deserved to be there.
The purpose of the event was to empower unemployed young women who are passionate about being leaders in their communities.
A lot was shared among these young women, such as being taught self defence, in case, she found herself in danger.
There were also motivational talks where the women were encouraged to forgive themselves and focus on rebuilding themselves.
