Hospice staff spoilt on Women’s Day

They were treated to snacks, tea and cake and a gift.

Khanya Hospice staff took time out to destress on Women’s Day last week, by enjoying some relaxing social time together before getting back to their patients.

The team often works in an environment with lots of emotional stress and stated that this sometimes takes a toll on them, as they are also people with emotions.

“We often cry with people and feel their pain when dealing with a loss or if something happens,” explained Khanya Hospice CEO Neil McDonald.

“So it was good to have some destressing and debriefing time together.”

Often a church group or family members of a patient or the staff of a company visits hospice on this day to spoil them with snacks, tea and cake and a gift.

“We feel appreciated and this was a wonderful way to make staff feel great about their jobs,” said nursing manager, Sr Sue Van Rijsbergen.
