Meritorious award for brave efforts of Station 39
The local NSRI station helped rescue people during the floods.
National Sea Rescue Institute (NSRI) recently had its 55th annual awards evening in Knysna, followed by the annual Statcom Conference.
It was an honour for the mid-South Coast’s Station 39 Statcom, Kevin Fourie to accept a Meritorious Award on behalf of his volunteer team for their brave efforts in rescuing hundreds of stranded people during the April floods.
The crew of Station 39 and all the other emergency responders involved were congratulated on their incredible work.
All other award recipients were also applauded for being recognised in their respective categories and appreciation was shown to all the Statcoms and volunteers who serve their communities selflessly to saving lives in South African waters.
