National Shut Down planned for tomorrow (August 24)

Hundreds are expected to join marches calling for government intervention in the cost of living crisis.

All non-essential workers have been called by trade union federations to strike tomorrow (Wednesday, August 24).

It remains to be seen how much this will affect those in the Ugu region.

Hundreds are expected to join marches calling for government intervention in the cost of living crisis.

Protest action is planned for most of the provinces, with no specific threat identified for the Ugu District.

However, contingency plans are in place.

Community groups, community policing forums and security companies are called to assist in being the eyes and ears in order to allow law enforcement to deal with matters proactively, as far as possible.
