Voters are encouraged to register for the Umuziwabantu Ward 11, KZN214 by-election this weekend.

The by-election will be held on Wednesday, October 12.

As Cllr TM Ncane of Aljamah has resigned, the councillor’s post is now vacant.

The voting stations: VD-43993480 – Mount Nebo Church and VD 44000020- Sutton Primary School will be open on Saturday, August 27 and Sunday, August 28, from 08:00 to 17:00 to allow eligible voters to register, for current voters to check their registration details and to provide or update address details where necessary.

The Independent Electoral Commission spokesperson, Kate Bapela said voters should take their green barcoded ID book, smartcard ID, or a valid temporary ID certificate.

“They will also need to complete their physical home address on registration or provide sufficient particularities of their place of residence, such as documented proof of address.

“Those who wish to check and update their details at their local municipal IEC office on weekdays can do so during office hours and are reminded that it is a criminal offence to register and vote in a ward in which they are not ordinarily resident,” Bapela added.
