Task Team tracks down man for failing to appear in court
The accused decided not to appear before the regional court for trial and a warrant of arrest was issued.
Sizwe Mjoli (37) was arrested by the Provincial Organised Crime Task Team for failing to appear before Ezinqoleni Regional Court recently.
On June 18, 2021 Mjoli was arrested for possession of an unlicensed firearm and possession of a hijacked vehicle at KwaMachi area in Harding.
He appeared in the Ezinqoleni Magistrate Court and his bail was opposed successfully.
Police spokesperson Captain Simphiwe Mhlongo said he appealed bail refusal of the court a quo, and Pietermaritzburg High Court granted him bail.
“He then decided not to appear before Ezinqoleni Regional Court for trial and a warrant of arrest was issued,” said Mhlongo.
Provincial Organised Crime Task Team received information of his whereabouts and he was arrested in the Eastern Cape.
Mjoli appeared in the Ezinqoleni Magistrate Court and was held in custody.
