Top musical acts to perform at Ugu Maskandi Festival

Some of the acts include Ntencane, Big Zulu, Khuzani, and the legendary Phuzekhemisi who will be supported by Duncan, Zakwe - and many more.

Following the success of last year’s Maskandi Music Festival in Harding, KZN, event organisers Ugu Broadcasting Services are going even bigger this year with the festival set to take place at Ugu Sport and Leisure Centre in Gamalakhe on Saturday, October 1 from 10:00.

The festival, which is bringing some of the biggest Maskandi stars, is being organised in partnership with Umuziwabantu and Ray Nkonyeni Local municipalities.

Siyabonga Mkhungo, director of Ugu Broadcasting Services, said: “We are excited to, once again, be hosting the Maskandi Music Festival which we believe is on track to becoming a household event in the district.”

He said the festival was started to embrace the Nguni culture and heritage through art and crafts.

“When we hold events of this nature and magnitude, we always strive to ensure local communities benefit most through the temporary job opportunities made available, and this extends to local hiring and supply businesses we rely on.”

The acts for this event include Ntencane, Big Zulu, Khuzani, and the legendary Phuzekhemisi who will be supported by Duncan, Zakwe – and many more. The event will also cater to local KZN South Coast artists that are joining the day’s line-up.

Phelisa Mangcu, CEO of South Coast Tourism and Investment Enterprise (SCTIE) said this is a fantastic example of the type of event that could be hosted in the region.

“It’s wonderful that the inaugural event was so well received and that the KZN South Coast is able to host the second Maskandi Music Festival.

“This not only celebrates the local talent and culture of the Paradise of the Zulu Kingdom, but it also positions the KZN South Coast as a key events destination, creating jobs and attracting tourism to the region. We’re excited to welcome these incredible artists and the many fans of maskandi to the KZN South Coast.” Mangcu added.

Attendees can bring their cooler boxes at a small cost, but glass is not permitted on site. To stay updated on all the Maskandi Music Festival happenings follow Ugu Maskandi Festival Official on social media.
