Scottburgh beach reopens to the public

Tests for E-coli were conducted and the beach is compliant in terms of the South African Water Quality Guidelines for Coastal Marine waters.

Scottburgh beach, which was temporarily closed a few days ago due to E-coli being detected in the water, is open to beachgoers once again.

Umdoni Municipality shared this news via social media today (September 30), just in time for the school holidays.

“Following the closure of the beach as a precautionary measure due to contents of E-coli detected, water samples from the beach and lagoon were taken by Ugu District Municipality for testing and results confirm that both the beach and the lagoon are compliant in terms of the South African Water Quality Guidelines for Coastal Marine waters.” – stated the municipality.

The community is thanked for their cooperation during the temporary beach closure.
