Centenary celebration for Marjorie

The Anerley resident has lived through all the major events in the last 100 years.

Marjorie Winsome Pyke (de Lange) celebrated her 100th birthday last Sunday.

It was a fabulous birthday party enjoyed with her family, friends, staff and management of Anerley Haven together with fellow residents.

Born on September 25, 1922, her childhood and teen years were spent in Northern and Central Africa where her parents dedicated their lives to missionary work.

In 1999, she retired at Anerley Retirement Village.

After a fall in 2018, she went to live at Anerley Haven Frail Care Centre, where she still lives.

At her wonderful age, she is still very witty and has a lovely sense of humour.

“I heard I’m about to turn 100! That’s absolutely ridiculous!” – Marjorie told someone before her birthday.
