Fundraiser to help learners in need

First 100 to register will get a t-shirt

The SM Foundation will once again be hosting its annual fun run, to raise funds for the purchase of school uniforms and stationary.

The run will be held at Ugu Sports and Leisure Centre on Sunday, November 6 from 07:30.

Founder of SM Foundation, Sbusiso Makhanya said he and his partners visit various schools annually in Gamalakhe, to see how many children are in need of school uniforms and shoes.

Makhanya said that at the beginning of the year every child looks forward to wearing a new shirt, uniform or shoes on the first day of school, however some parents cannot provide.

“As SM Foundation we step in and make sure that we give that child what they need, whether it’s a pair of shoes, uniform or stationary from the funds raised at the run,” Makhanya added.

He said he encourages the South Coast community to support this initiative which is also an opportunity to network.

Makhanya said runners and walkers have the option to participate in either a 7km or 12km run or walk.

“The first 100 participants to register will get free T-shirts.”
