Tweni’s joint operation a success
A wide area was searched using drones, motor bikes, and ground patrols.

In response to an increase in petty crimes and housebreakings, a joint operation was held in Umtentweni last Friday.
The Tweni Community Police Forum (CPF) together with police, Ray Nkonyeni Municipality’s Law Enforcement, security officers from ADT and Lazer Security carried out an operation along the Umtentweni main beach and the railway track.

CPF chairman, Selvan Chetty said the operation was to root out suspicious persons living or sheltering in the bushes along the railway track and alleged to be involved in crime in the Tweni and Sea Park area.
A wide area was searched using drones, motor bikes, and ground patrols.
“We found suspects living in hideouts, some with no explanation for the household goods in their possession. We also found various housebreaking tools, as well as tools used for cable theft. Suspects were rounded up and items were confiscated,” he said.

The two-hour operation yielded positive results, and they had an excellent response from security companies and CPF members.
Chetty thanked everyone for being committed to fighting crime and going above and beyond for keeping the community safe
“The community is already expressing their thanks and appreciation to all stakeholders for this initiative,” he said.
