Regional hospital praises staff
The hospital recognises staff's sterling work within the department of health.
Port Shepstone Regional Hospital‘s emergency department hosted an awards function recently, to give recognition to staff for their dedication and commitment to service delivery for the first and second quarters of the 2022/2023 financial year.
Certificates were presented by the Head of Clinical Unit, Dr Bavani Naicker, Emergency Medicine Specialist Dr Kamlin Ekambaram, as well as Matron Pasi Tyala and Operational Nursing Manager Khanyiso Mthulu, to staff members who excelled in the department.
The awards and certificates were given for full attendance for the first and second quarters; clear report writing and sequential handover; dedication, efficiency, commitment, sense of urgency and caring attitude.
Awards were also handed out to doctors who showed great potential for academic learning in emergency medicine; doctors who show sense of urgency and caring attitude for critically ill patients; doctors for stepping up to assist with co-ordination and efficiency during a crisis; most improved ED doctor in terms of emergency medicine skills set and best team leader doctor.
A special award was presented to Operational Nurse Manager Khanyiso Mthulu for innovation and creativity while providing good unit administration and designing a daily staff allocation register.
This was highlighted as a great achievement for the hospital as it was benchmarked by the province. Professional nurse Bryce Majola also received a special award for taking charge of the unit in the absence of the Operational Nurse Manager during Provincial Nursing Management Reviews in February 2022. Nurse Noble was also recognised for his dedication, commitment, efficiency and continuous nursing care.
