Donate blood at wellness day

SANBS South Coast reaches out to businesses to donate blood.

Due to critically low blood stock levels and a growing number of patients and infants whose lives depend on lifesaving donations, the South African National Blood Service (SANBS) South Coast will host a blood donor and wellness day at Bates Motors at 2485 Main Road, Shelly Beach Business Park.

The blood drive and wellness day will be held on Monday, December 5 from 09:00 to 17:00. Sithembiso Mbatha from SANBS said they understand that most of their donors are unable to take time off work to go to donor centres. Also with the fuel price increase, it has become even more challenging to do do.

“This is why SANBS Southcoast Mall would like to bridge the gap by reaching out to all donors for their lifesaving donations. Not only do donors get to save a life by donating a pint of blood, but also get a healthcare check-up before donating. We check their weight, blood pressure, haemoglobin level, and three blood samples are taken to our labs to check for any blood-borne infections and viruses.

All will be done in a safe environment at Bates Motors,” added Sithembiso.
The blood drive is open to people between the ages of 16 and 75 years old, and it’s free. All donors will receive a token of appreciation from SANBS. For further information contact Sithembiso on 081 3222129.
