After 41 years’ of faithful service, veteran police officer Warrant Officer Sewlall Brijmohan of Umzinto Saps bade farewell to the police service recently.
He is well-known to many as Brij and was recruited in April 1982 at Umzinto Saps, and successfully completed his basic training in Wentworth. During his career, he served at Hibberdene, Umzinto, Lenasia South, Vanderbijl Park and then returned to Umzinto – his hometown.
“He was a skilled detective who put many criminals behind bars,” said Scottburgh Saps communications officer, Captain Adam Francis.
“Brij can be described as a humble, dedicated and approachable member who ensured that the image of the Saps was portrayed positively.”
Before his retirement, he was assigned to exhibits management.
He was presented with 10, 20, 30 and 40 years of loyal and faithful service medals and six other commendations by the Saps.
“Firstly I thank God for keeping me safe and healthy and it was a fulfilling career in the Saps,” said Brijmohan.
He also advised members to be disciplined, work in an abiding manner and treat the public in the same way that they wished to be treated.
His farewell was arranged by Captain Charmaine Singh and members of Umzinto Saps at Vertigos Scottburgh recently.
Station Commander, Lt. Colonel GM Ndwalane acknowledged Brijmohan’s enormous contribution and wished him blessings on his retirement.
