Ugu cops make South Coast proud
The Ugu District really shone brightly at the recent awards evening.
The men and women in blue enjoyed a glamourous and unforgettable evening at the KZN Provincial Excellence Awards held at the Coastlands Hotel in Durban recently.

The purpose of these awards is to give recognition and award the excellent work of police members and personnel who walk the extra mile and demonstrate exceptional commitment to their work in either the operational policing environment, or in an administrative support environment.
Police spokesperson Captain Petros Mpinge said members greatly anticipate the annual awards as it is a token of recognition of their hard work.

Ugu District received a number of nominees for the awards from SAPS Margate, SAPS Umzinto and Port Shepstone Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences Unit (FCS) in Port Shepstone and Search and Rescue.
KZN Provincial Commissioner Lieutenant General Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi praised the nominees. After delivering his keynote address, he handed out the awards to well deserving members.
Ugu District Commissioner, Major General Sethenya Nxamagele is proud of her members who excelled in their duties and who continuously strive for greatness.

The award recipients are:
Second runner up: Station of the Year – SAPS Margate. Third runner up – SAPS Southport. Vispol Employee of the year level 5-7 – Sergeant Anele Moni (SAPS Margate), Vispol Policing Employee of the year level 8-12 Sergeant Sbu Ncane (SAPS Margate), Senior Manager of the year – Brigadier William Slabbert (SAPS Margate). Vispol Team of the Year – Margate Vispol Operations, Vispol Policing Employee of the Year Level 8-12 – Colonel Gavin de Lange (District Office), Medium Risk Team of the Year – Port Shepstone Search and Rescue. High Risk member of the year level 5-7 – Sergeant Oscar Msomi (Port Shepstone Search and Rescue), Detective Services Employee of the year level 8-12 – Colonel David Nala (SAPS Margate), Investigator of the year level 8-12 – Lieutenant Colonel Devika Pillay (FCS Port Shepstone), Woman of the year (2nd runner-up) – Sergeant Ntokozo Ngcobo (SAPS Umzinto), Sportsman of the Year (first runner-up) – Sergeant Anesh Dawlatt ( SAPS Margate), Sportswoman of the year (first runner-up) – Sergeant Michelle van Niekerk (SAPS Margate).
