Blood donors wanted

Be at Bates Motors on December 5 and donate blood.

The South African National Blood Service (SANBS) has stated that blood stock levels are critically low, and donors are needed urgently.

The South Coast branch of SANBS will host a blood drive and wellness day at Bates Motors at 2485 Main Road, Shelly Beach Business Park on Monday, December 5 from 09:00 to 15:00.

Sithembiso Mbatha from the SANBS said it is understandable that most donors are unable to get time off work to go to donor centres, and with the fuel price increase it has become more challenging.

During the drive, donors will get a healthcare check-up before they donate. These include: Weight, blood pressure, haemoglobin level and three blood samples taken to the laboratory to test for any blood-borne infections and viruses.

All will be done is a safe environment at Bates Motors. Anyone between the ages of 16 and 75 years are welcome. It is also free. Donors will receive a token of appreciation from SANBS.
