Tidy Towns benefits from fishing compo proceeds
The competition raised awareness on the excellent job, Tidy Towns is doing around the Port Shepstone beachfront.
Fishing and fun was the catch of the day at the first annual fishing competition hosted by Thompson Motors South Coast at Port Shepstone beachfront, in support of Tidy Towns Port Shepstone recently.
Fishermen, both young and old, and not forgetting the women were up early to cast their lines in order to get the big catch. It was an excellent day out fishing, but most of all the event created awareness for Tidy Towns Port Shepstone. All proceeds raised will go to the wonderful work being done by Tidy Towns.
Some were lucky and had some good catches early in the morning which included salmon, bronze bream, brusher, grunter and shad.
The biggest bag in the U12 age group was won by Jessica Stott, second Cattleya Singh and third Zailen Singh. The biggest fish caught was won by Verren Soorijlal.
In the adult division, biggest bag was won by Kisten Moodley and U18 biggest bag by Dillen Govender.
Organisers of the event said the fishing competition was a huge success and they look forward to next year’s event. They thanked all who played an important role including sponsors, volunteers and participants.. Prizes and lucky draws were handed out.
