Ten days to go to Christmas and it rains – and rains! The countdown starts. The end of the year looms! Already!
Tidy Towns Pennington is begging for donations towards the repair of the Pennington Beach deck. Any local companies, or even bigger corporate businesses that have funds for donations, please let them know. Or let us know and we can make contact with them.

Many companies have a budget for charitable donations or for their BEE accreditation, The Pennington Conservancy is a registered NPO, if a company needs a Section 18A certificate. This is a big project and the cost cannot be absorbed by local companies. P&G Construction has already invested a considerable amount of labour and materials. We would also like to turn our humble deck into an attraction for whale viewing for next year’s whale migration.
On December 10, Pennington, Park Rynie and parts of Scottburgh South had a horrible time with Eskom. Loadshedding occurred at 07:00 and the electricity was only restored on Sunday at 02:00. There were some unhappy folk, especially when the loadshedding at 07:00 on the Sunday was implemented – and then hurriedly switched on again. The switch operator got the memo. Don’t! It was a massive test that most folk passed reasonably well!

On December 3, the Pennington Conservancy had a violin recital under the Fig Tree in Nkomba. The violinist was Petya Koleva from the KZN Philharmonic Orchestra. A wonderful array of Mediterranean meze platters were served by the Beach Cafe and Petya played a range of classical and popular music. What a vibrant, joyful and beautiful violinist she is.
