New police constables welcomed in Ugu
Major General Sethenya Nxamagele addressed the constables and wished them well.
Some 169 new Saps recruits were welcomed and introduced to local police at St Martin de Porres school grounds in Port Shepstone, last Saturday.
Major General Sethenya Nxamagele, district commissioner of Ugu District, reminded the young men and women in blue to actively serve their communities, always act responsibly and within the ambit of the law.
She further cautioned them against engaging in any criminal and anti-social behaviour, to be disciplined at all times even when no one is watching and to further their education.
“Fitness, both physical and mental, will be a challenge, but is essential in being a balanced and well equipped policeman who can effectively carry out his mandate,” she said.
Major General Nxamagele encouraged the constables to support each other on this journey and to avail themselves of the necessary employee health and wellness programmes.
She concluded by wishing them wisdom and God’s protection at all times.
