Murder accused in court for bail

Proceedings were stopped due to loadshedding.

The bail application of five people arrested in connection with the murder of Dale (Danyaal) Kistna (32) and Sphelele Shongwe (24) from Marburg was postponed to today (Thursday).

The five, including two policemen (one from Port Shepstone and the other from Umzinto), appeared in the Port Shepstone Regional Court yesterday (Wednesday) on charges of murder, kidnapping, defeating the ends of justice and attempted murder which occurred in Marburg earlier this year.

Proceedings were stopped due to loadshedding.

The court heard how the State will lead evidence that Kistna and Shongwe were picked up from a street in Marburg, and subsequently died during an assault (torture and electrocution), which took place in a workshop. The bodies were later dumped in an area in Msinsini.

On Monday this week, friends and family of the deceased protested outside the court.
