Spreading cheer this Christmas
Community joining forces for the good of all this Christmas.
Collaboration definitely trumps competition on the South Coast.
The Assissi Convent, inland of Umtentweni, held its annual Christmas party for the children they care for and the community.
The Toy Box Project, driven by Simmi Fink from Umzumbe, helped gather and send the toys to the convent.
“A huge thank you to the schools and individuals involved in the donations of toys, including Izotsha Primary that opened its carol’s evening to collect the toys for these children. Also, thanks to Smartie Pants and Little Eden too,” said Fink.
The Muse Foundation also presented the older girls with gifts of reusable and sustainable period products.
Meals were provided to about 400 people at the party.
“The nuns were worried that the party would not take place this year, but with all the help, it was a beautiful success! It just shows what community can achieve when working together,” said Fink.
