Ugu district municipality urges the public not to pour oil or grease in municipal drains, as it causes blockages.

The municipality is concerned about the large volume of oil and foreign objects found during unblocking of sewer drains recently.

The foreign objects and oil can cause a major threat to the sewer system and beaches.

The main line from Gamalakhe to Uvongo lagoon was found clogged with objects, and oil and grease was found in coastal manholes.
