New home for Elliot the emu
The big bird has settled among the rest of the barnyard crew.
Elliot the Emu recently settled into his new home at Scottburgh’s Crocworld Conservation Centre.
Ryne Ferguson, the centre’s bird curator, said that everyone was very excited with the big bird’s arrival and that the emu has settled very well among the rest of the barnyard crew.
Emus are flightless Australian birds and the second tallest bird on the planet after the ostrich.
Some of the other bird residents at the conservation centre, both indigenous and exotic, include Cape vultures, booted eagles, fish eagles and mute swans.
