UPDATE: Two people die in horrific N2 Umzumbe crash

Emergency personnel worked tirelessly to assist those involved in the head-on crash.

The accident on the N2 Umzumbe stretch earlier today has claimed the lives of two people.

Shawn Herbst of Netcare 911 said the the road was closed after midday to allow a Netcare 911 helicopter to land to collect a seriously injured patient.

A second seriously injured person was transported to hospital.
