Retirement village residents to the rescue
Volunteers are always welcome at Khanya Hospice.
Widenham Retirement Village residents came to the rescue of Khanya Hospice at a time when staff desperately needed volunteers.
Hospice had just received a ton of donations for its shops (which helps generate funds for the NGO) and put out notices requesting help to sort everything out.
Local resident Allan Jackman contacted hospice and said the people from the retirement village were on the way to help, and one after the other, they came through and assisted staff tremendously.
“What would have taken our staff days to sort out, took the team only a few hours,” said a grateful Neil McDonald, CEO of Khanya Hospice.
Before leaving, the volunteers were treated to tea, coffee and sandwiches.
