Truck carrying liquor hijacked near Hibberdene

The empty truck was left abandoned.

A truck carrying alcohol was hijacked while travelling on the N2 southbound near Hibberdene  yesterday (Thursday) at 15:30.

Police spokesman Captain Petros Mpinge said it’s alleged that four men in a silver VW sedan drove alongside the truck and one of the men aimed at the driver with a firearm, forcing him to stop.

A shot was fired and the driver stopped.

“The driver and his crew were forced into the men’s vehicle and one of the men drove the truck to Mtwalume area where it was offloaded. The driver and his crew were dropped off elsewhere, unhurt,” said Mpinge.

The empty truck was left abandoned.
