All quiet so far: Visible policing keeps South Coast calm during planned national shutdown [WATCH]

Police and security personnel have been closely monitoring the group of protestors which gathered on the N2 turnoff near Hibberdene this morning.

It’s been a relevantly quiet morning on the KZN South Coast despite talk or concerns of disruptive protest action today (Monday) by the political party EFF.

Security personnel, law enforcement officers, police and civic groups have been on patrol since the early hours of this morning, and it’s great to report that the ‘coast is clear’, so far.

The only issue reported was of a small group of protestors who tried to close off the road on the N2 near Hibberdene.

This did not last long – the group was dispersed and the road has been open for a while now. Saps is monitoring the area and motorists are advised to drive with caution.

Many businesses owners in various areas decided to close, just to be on the safe side.

Updates will be given should anything is reported during the course of the day.
