Work experience makes students valuable assets
Students must get the best work experience so that they are able to work when they get jobs.
Esayidi TVET College and Sector Education and Training Authorities (SETAs) hosted a breakfast meeting at St Michaels Sands Hotel last Thursday.
A number of guests attended including the mayor of Ray Nkonyeni Municipality, Sikhumbuzo Mqadi.
The purpose of the get together was to partner with SETAs in terms of placement of students.
The college’s Noluthando Ralaki said that they want companies to give their students the best work experience.
“We want our students to be trained in such a way that when they go out to get permanent jobs, they become valuable assets. We also need SETAs to help us with stipends when our learners are given these opportunities”.
The principal of the college, Renette Bodenstein said that it is important for them as a college to place students in work places.
“As Esaydi TVET College a record number of 579 National Certificate Vocational students were placed in 2022.”
She said that Minister Blade Nzimande recently stated that the Department of Higher Education and Training will place 10 thousand unemployed TVET graduates in work places from April.
